"Misfortune opens the soul to the light that prosperity does not see". I read this once and made so much sense to me. It makes me think that things are not necessarily good or bad but part of the same thing. For example, I see misfortune and prosperity at opposite ends of the same spectrum. We should know both to be able to learn and evolve. This might sound good to you but you might be asking, what does this has to do with the Law of Gratitude?
As humans, we often feel gratitude for things that are going well, but rarely we do when things go wrong. The Law of Gratitude includes being grateful all the time for the things in our life because even those moments that we consider a misfortune bring something good to our life.
The Law of Gratitude is not only about feeling grateful when we feel prosperous but feeling grateful when we feel in misfortune because we are able to see the whole spectrum and appreciate each part of it.
Life presents situations from which we need to learn something, that situation could be a little unpleasant like a disease, bankruptcy, we lose our job, divorce, an accident, etc. Each unpleasant situation comes with a gift that we don't see right away.
Another example would be, you can't learn what it is to feel healthy unless you experience what it is to feel sick. When you are grateful for everything going on in your life, you complete the lesson. The Law of Gratitude guarantees that you complete your knowledge by accepting what it is before you move on. In other words, once you have learned the whole spectrum of things, you don't need to get that lesson any more. Isn't that great?
Learning to follow the universal laws is key to living a better and happier life. Gratitude also changes your brain's function and structure by releasing positive neurochemicals associated with being in a better mood, feeling of pleasure and well-being. There is always something for which to feel gratitude even if it doesn't feel that way some times. What are you grateful for?
