Are you consistent in your personal growth?

Today is a good day to talk about consistency with the Newsletter's 50th edition. What does this mean to me or to you? I am not sure what does it mean to you. You probably look forward to reading this newsletter every month or you might not. If you do, I hope it has helped you in some way. If you don't, it is ok too.

Having written 50 articles for 50 consecutive months means a lot to me. It means that I have been consistent in what has a lot of value to me;  to share what I learn. Do I hope people read this newsletter? Of course I do! The truth is, I don't expect everybody to read it all the time. If YOU read this newsletter and it makes you think of how you can change for the better, then the intended message has achieved its purpose.

Being consistent with this newsletter has also help me to be consistent with my personal growth. I once heard that if you wake up every single day being the same person, you are not really living. For example, if you wake up every day feeling the same anger, the same guilt, the same frustration and resentment towards others or towards your own, that is not living.

We must change! We must change the things that make our heart ache, or feel small and oppressed. We must change our own mind when it stops us from really shining! We must work on being a better person every day. Why? Because otherwise we are not living, we are just passing through this life in autopilot and what is the purpose of that?

So how can we change you may ask? By being consistent with your values. Identify what you truly value in life. For example, if you value love, be consistent with loving yourself and others. We all have situations in which we wish others would act in different ways and would seem like our love for them diminishes. If we are consistent with love for others, then we learn every day to accept others for who they are even if we don't like what they do.

When we learn, we change. We also need intention and consistency. There is no real change without consistency.

You can't think of something you want to change? How about learning to:

  • not judge
  • accept others
  • be thankful
  • express your emotions
  • set boundaries
  • treat others with respect
  • care for nature
  • not feel like a victim
  • be more compassionate
  • listen more and talk less

The list doesn't end here and only you know what you need to learn and change. When you work on something to change in yourself to become a better person, you start living the life you came here to live and that is when life starts getting interesting and exciting.  You also don't want to get to the end of your life wishing you had done it differently. Usually people get to the end wishing that they had been less judging of others, wishing they had not carried so much resentment in their hearts, or wishing they had learned to listen more or to accept everybody with their virtues and faults. Are you ready to start being consistent in your personal growth?
