How do you deal with obstacles?

Obstacles can cause frustration when we don't understand their purpose. Obstacles are part of the path to reach our own goals. Many times, we get frustrated or angry when things don't occur the way we expect because we like knowing what is going to happen, when, and how.

The reality is that obstacles bring us lessons and help us grow if we see them as teachers. Obstacles might teach us  that we don't have the total control of things. Obstacles might also teach us that when something doesn't go as planned, it is because we need to make a change, see things in a different way, or learn to trust because there is something better coming our way.

Sometimes obstacles teach us to be persistent in the things we want to achieve, but we need to be careful not to become obsessed or stubborn about them. It is important to identify the reason for the obstacles and know when we need to change the path, the way, or the attitude.

Obstacles can come in many forms. They can come as people, time, resources, weather, situations, rules, emotions, money, etc.

How do we know when an obstacle is there to be skipped or when is it there to stop us from making a mistake?

First I think we all agree that the first purpose of an obstacle is to stop us or to slow us down. Life is telling us we need to slow down, stop and rethink what we are doing. So, here are some tips to help you overcome obstacles:

  1. Change the way you see an obstacle. Obstacles are lessons.
  2. Analyze the situation and connect with your intuition (what feels good and what doesn't).
  3. Write down your options.
  4. Think about how you can put more love into the situation if people is the obstacle.
  5. Make the necessary changes and try again if that is what you really want (intuition).
  6. Trust.

Obstacles will appear in all areas of your life, in school, at work, at home, with friends and family, in business, on vacation, etc. How are you going to see obstacles from now on?
