Are you constantly living in fear?

It has been a while since I wrote about fear, but lately, that topic has been showing up in different places for me so I take that as a sign that I need to look around, check my own fears, learn about fear, and write about it.

Why do people live in fear? I want to say that there is a lot of fear in our society that could be diminished if we could block listening and feeding on bad news. I am not only talking about the bad news we hear on TV, but also the bad news we see in social media, or hear directly from the people around us.

Constantly listening to bad news can trigger high levels of stress, anxiety and can even keep you awake at night. Not only that, but listening to bad news all the time makes you live in fear and sadness. Eventually, you can turn into someone who is always waiting for something bad to happen, which in turn can bring you more anxiety and distress.  I don't want to make this sound alarming but instead, it is important to be aware of the effects bad news can have in our brains.

An article in the National Library of Medicine that talks about how to protect the brain from bad news, mentions that the exposure to bad news can make our own worries seem worse. This article also mentions that bad news can really hurt your mental health.

Are you always thinking that something bad is going to happen to you or your loved ones? Do you feel anxious or sad? Have you noticed if you live with fear?  These may be signs that you need to clean your thoughts because your brain might be overloaded with negativity.

You are probably thinking that you want to stay informed of what is going on in the world. But seriously, unless there is a world crisis, there is no need to feed your brain with bad news. There is something bad happening all the time and you don't need to hear the news to know that. Sadly, bad news is the kind of news that people like to share.

How can we step away of the urge for bad news and start nurturing our brain and body? Here are some ideas you can implement right away.

  • Decrease your intake of bad news; this can mean watching less news, or none preferably.
  • Stay away from negative people.
  • Catch yourself sharing bad news and instead look for good news to share. Believe me, there are many good news to share but we don't hear those.
  • Focus on the positive and not on the negative.
  • Trust God (or the Universe), things that need to happen, will happen.
  • Pray, for you, your love ones, the world, the children, our mother earth, the ones who suffer, the lonely ones, etc.
  • Meditate to send love to everyone.
  • Live your life giving the best of you every day.
  • Share this article. Let's work together to elevate our collective consciousness.

You have probably heard of "where focus goes, energy flows". Imagine we all start focusing on the positive and we start using our energy for the better, not for the worse. Our world would be a better place in which to live.
